Squat Challenge, Swings and Shoveling

On Facebook last night, I saw a post regarding a Squat 30/30 Challenge and was immediately intrigued. Every day for 30 days try to remain in a squat position for up to 30 minutes. Yesterday was my "Day One". My first attempt was 2.5 minutes and second try was 5 minutes. Today I did a three minute segment and need to work on it some more tonight. It feels good. The more you ease into it and relax, the easier it is. The ankles are where I'm finding I am tight and need to loosen up. I have a long way to go - obviously! :)

Yesterday we got more snow. I shoveled for about 20 minutes in the morning but the snow was coming down faster than I could keep up. So I waited until late afternoon when it was letting up. It took me a good hour and about ten minutes to shovel the driveway and the sidewalk plus I had to shovel out in front of the mailbox for the mailman. Then my daughter's bus came while I was outside and I had to run through the snow down to her bus stop a block and a half away. Not far at all but I was already pretty beat from shoveling. Good workout overall! Man did I sleep well last night!

I'm not feeling particularly strong today but swinging has a way of loosening you up and easing the soreness out of the muscles.

I started out with two-handed swings and then moved to one-handed swings.

Ladders - two-handed
up and down
16kg, 18kg, 24kg

Set one:
10by10
100 swings

rest one minute

Set two:
10by10
100 swings

rest one minute

Set three:
10by10
100 swings

Had to run down and pick my daughter up from the bus.
Came back and finished up.

Set four - one handed swings
16kg and 18kg
10by10
one handed swings
5L/5R
100 swings

rest one minute

Set five:
16kg and 18kg
one handed swings

30 second swinging/15 sec rest = 140 swings

Hope you have a great weekend!

  1. Having a day where there's anything (including shoveling!) to do with snow and kettlebells is a wonderful day!
Nice workout and great job on the squatting......I loathe those damn things, but it's only because I can't do them!
