Gradual Improvement

Diana and me

This has been a fun week. Monday, I did a high rep snatch workout mainly with the 8kg. It felt tremendously good. My endurance is improving. This is only the second week I have been training the snatch but it's fun to see even the slightest improvement.  My callus on my right hand tore open on the final twenty or so snatches. I'm pretty happy it took that long to happen if it was going to happen at all. I'm working on fixing my grip and trying to focus on fingertip grip more but this is a learning process. I have much to learn and much to improve. All in all though - it was a good workout and I wasn't sucking wind as I was the week before! I definitely could "feel" the workout the day after though! Thank goodness for a day of rest the next day!

Tuesday we got a few inches of snow so my workout was shoveling.

Wednesday, my friend Diana drove up to check out "Rocky"- my new comp bell. What a fun day! I always enjoy hanging out with Diana. Our snatch session was about an hour long. My hand got in the way of me really going for it unfortunately. I taped it up but at the end of the workout, blood was slightly seeping through the wrap. I didn't get an accurate rep count for my snatches save for a few sets. The numbers are higher than what I'll be posting but I have no way of knowing the exact count. Those numbers are under Monday's workout.

Wednesday workout
*I did more sets than I'm recording but I don't remember what the numbers were. I usually write down my counts as I'm training but I didn't Wednesday. We worked out for close to an hour so my numbers would be more than indicated. Grrrr. I should have grabbed my notepad because I suck at keeping numbers of reps straight in my head.

I did my ladder with the 12kg RKC bell. Rest was probably half a minute between
5/5
6/6
7/7
8/8
9/9
10/10
11/11

total: 80 swings 40 snatches

Overall total: 172 snatches
                       120 swings

I just ordered an 8kg comp bell so I can work on my grip and technique. I probably should have ordered a 10kg but there was free shipping on the 8kg (you cannot beat that) and I will put the bell to good use. It's pink as that is the color of the 8kg comp bells. So I shall name it "Floyd".

I have a lot - A LOT of work to do. My stamina is improving. The main thing I am not happy with is my wrist strength and of course my grip (calluses suck). That will come. I know it will. :) Happy Thursday! It's supposed to warm up slightly - which will be nice in terms of getting outside with the kettlebell.
