Downstairs
I don't remember ever getting this sore when I was younger. This last weekend we decided to move our office back downstairs to our lower family room which is on the basement level. We used to have it down there a few years ago but thought we would take over the guest room on the main level as it is bit warmer up there and more accessible to things. With all three of us on computers now, it is getting cramped upstairs.
I'm no stranger to moving things around. It's not unusual for me to carry the futon or coffee table up or down the stairs when I change my mind about its location. I've perfected the "how-to" of it all.
The only thing now is that I definitely "feel" it afterwards where I did not before. This weekend I moved my desk, my electric keyboard and stand downstairs and then I moved three tall bookshelves and all the books upstairs. The process took me more than three hours. The bookshelves are those heavy duty black shelves and our books - because we have so many - are in stacks on the shelves. The bulk of the work was moving the books.
So I DID get a nice workout running up and down the stairs. Every time I brought a load of books up, I made sure to take something else downstairs that I needed for the office. My husband will move his desk down this next weekend.
I'm still making trips as I organize and get things in working order. There's still much to be done.
My knees screamed that night. I had to rub them with Absorbine Jr.. Thank GOD for that stuff. You wouldn't think I'd be sore after all the workouts I do. But it does engage a different set of muscles I suppose. :)
I didn't workout Monday as I was still making trips up and down. I got a stair workout! Plus I was freaking tired.
Tuesday night, I walked with my friend via Skype. We did 16 minutes at a 4mph pace and then I did 15 minutes of swings with my 12kg.
I only did 300 swings but I'll get my heavy workout in this week yet. There's plenty of time.
1st set
30 sec work to 30 sec rest
20 reps x 10 = 200 swings
I mixed it up with 2hd, 1hd, transfers.
2nd set
15/15
10x10 = 100 swings
again- mixed it up with 2hd, 1hd, transfers
It feels good to get organized. I have a lot of things to go through and toss out old stuff we no longer need. The important thing is that I was moving and not just sitting around. Movement is a good thing!
Happy Day!

It's so great to be "healthy" enough to do this kind of stuff! I see so many patients at work who feel that just moving their arm to their mouth to eat is a lot of work! Sad....so very sad and people accept themselves.
ReplyDeleteNothing....absolutely nothing, beats good old fashioned hard laboring work!!
We are very lucky. It feels so good to move.
