Smooth Swinging

The drive home from up north - a beautiful ending to a wonderful weekend.

We were up north this weekend celebrating my mom's birthday and my uncle's birthday. Mom's was last week and uncle's was Friday. We always go out to The Landing to celebrate each of our birthdays when they come around. There are eight of us in the group: my mom, my two uncles (her brothers), my honorary aunts (two sisters), my husband, my daughter and me. It is always a good time.

It is also more difficult to count calories and log food when we go up north as we tend to eat out a lot. It's the only real time my husband and I get out of the house and it's more of a social thing up north than anything. We see a lot of old friends and it is nice to be out and about. But again, not so easy to track eating. I ate fairly healthy but still, eating out is a different beast than at home. You KNOW what is put in the food you make at home.

Saturday night after everyone left, I decided to do some swings. I wasn't going to workout as I wanted to give a little time for my blisters to heal a wee bit. But I got some tape and that helped a lot. First time doing that. I was only going to swing for a little bit but then I got into it and man, talk about smooth sailing. It felt so good and so energizing. I felt (and this will sound crazy and gooey) almost like I was one with the bell. It felt like an extension of me. So I kept swinging. And in the end, I completed 1000 swings. Great workout. FELT awesome even if it was with the 12kg. :)

So here is the workout. All were 10x10 - 15seconds work to 15 seconds rest except for one set where I did 200 swings without resting. I only had the one kettlebell (12kg) at my mom's so that is what I used. I took about a minute rest between each set.

I brought my other 12kg home from my mom's so I can start training double swings this week. I tried it out tonight for 50 swings and I think I am going to love it. I tried it in the past but it was really awkward. For some reason now, it isn't. Perhaps I'm stronger and my form is better? Not sure.

Great weekend. Got to play outside for a little bit and hug some trees. That always energizes me. Looking forward to this week and training with the bells as well as walking. :) Life is good!

Happy week to you!
