Of Little Old Blisters

My hand after snatches today

Beautiful day. The sun is out or rather was out. It's getting on towards evening now. The birds were singing and the sky was blue. It is also a sad day in our family as a dear cousin of mine passed away this week. Tonight is her funeral. I wasn't able to make it up north for it but my heart is with her family - my family. She will be missed.

Today was my snatch day. Since my 8kg kettlebell is not the most "comfortable" for snatching, I used my 12kg. The 8 has a triangular handle rather than the usual rounded handle so I don't particularly enjoy snatching with my 8. I was spoiled at Diana's house when I snatched with her 8kg because it is has the nice NORMAL kettlebell handle. :) I knew I should have "snatched" her 8kg away when she wasn't looking. HA HA! Just kidding, Diana! I will be ordering another 8kg of my own soon as it is a nice lighter weight (18lbs) to work with when building up my snatches.

Anyway, here is my workout for today:

Total: 190 snatches
           340 swings

Warm-up:100 swings
12kg and 16kg
10x10 - 1 HD swings 10L/10R - 15 seconds work to 15 seconds rest
I did ONE set with the 12kg (10 swings), the rest were with the 16kg.

Snatches: 15 seconds work to 15 seconds rest
12kg
10x7 - 7L/7R = 70 snatches total

Swing Snatch Transfer Intervals with the 12kg
10 sets: 1minute work/15 seconds rest
6R/6L =12 snatches per minute
24 swings per minute

Walking: 60minutes/4mph (4miles)

*Now I did not intend for the swing snatch transfer interval to be one minute work to 15 seconds rest. I used my kettlebell timer on iPad and thought I set it for equal work to equal rest (1min/1min) not realizing until I started the set that it was actually one minute work with 15 seconds rest. By the time I was down to the very last set, I could feel the pinching in my hands and knew I had some little blisters forming. I was very happy when it was all over.

Mind you, I don't have a lot of snatches under my belt yet. I'm just getting started really. Swings - no problem. Snatches I never truly enjoyed until I did them with Tracy at Diana's house. So I have a long way to go and a LOT of room for improvement! But I'm doing it and I'm loving it. Every day I train makes me better and stronger. That's the point of it all.

After my kettlebell training, I walked for one hour (walking to one of Leslie Sansone's programs) at a pace of 4mph, so I walked four miles.

It was a good day overall. :)

Oh yeah! I lost one pound too! :)
